Kris Jenkins, defensive tackle for the Jets, will be turning 31 soon. This off season he started to think that maybe he didn’t want his knee that has been surgically repaired to go through another season of having to support his body, which weighs 360 pounds.

In an interview with the New York Times Jenkins said, since I was 8 years old I have played football. I am starting to get tired. I am not completely tired of the game yet, however I am starting to be.

In 2009 Jenkins got off to a very good start before he tore his ACL in October. He says that having a chance to play for head coach Rex Ryan for another season is why he decided to come back and not make 2009 his final season.

It has been highly anticipated that the Jets would sign Mark Brunell, quarterback, after the restrictions of Final Eight Plan are gone. The recent bankruptcy filing of Brunell’s from debts exceeding $20 million, along with the team’s supposed interested in JaMarcus Russell and the belief that some of the players hold of Brunell being too old, did lead to some uncertainty about whether or not the Jets would go ahead with singing Brunell.

Apparently they are proceeding.

ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini is reporting that Brunell will be signed by Jets, perhaps even by Thursday.

The collective bargaining agreement of the NFL has a rule that isn’t very well known that is greatly effecting the stalled negotiations between the New York Jets and Darrelle Revis, their star cornerback. It very likely could sabotage any chances of getting Revis signed on a contract extension prior to the season starting.

The reallocation rule partly explains why the offer that Revis is receiving from the Jets includes almost no money that is fully guaranteed- meaning the money is guaranteed against injury and skill, which ensures that the player no matter what will get paid.

On Wednesday the New York Jets and left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson agreed to a contract.

The deal helped to secure one of the Jets’ four core players that had uncertain contract situations. Still looming are the situations of linebacker David Harris, center Nick Mangold, and cornerback Darrelle Revis.

The deal was confirmed by agent Brad Blank to Newark Star-Ledger. The deal has been reported by ESPN to be a $60 million, six year contract extension, with $34.8 million being guaranteed.

Positive reports have been received by the Jets on JaMarcus Russell. However no one should be jumping to any conclusions. Russell playing in New York quite frankly would be disastrous. There are so many reasons why this wouldn’t work. However, let’s just name one. Russell is the underachiever of all time. Those types of players you don’t want to mess with the team’s chemistry. It also isn’t a good idea to have him hang out with Mark Sanchez, the anti JaMarcus and young franchise quarterback.

We don’t usually acknowledge fantasy football directly here, although we do realize that many of our page views and visitors are a result of many of you wanting to thump your brother-in-law, cousin, minister, dog groomer and/or mailman in the game, which screws up completely traditional rooting interests.

Tonight we though we would acknowledge fantasy football directly because Manish Mehta from New York Daily News is offering up this off season’s great fantasy football tip: Shonn Green’s year is going to be a monster one.

Evan Silver of PFT, NBC Sports and Rotoworld, who all of a sudden never can go to Oakland, chimed in and said bing!

The Associated Press is reporting that the New York Jets, facing their ongoing inability for selling out all of their Personal Seat Licenses along with the tickets associated with them, are dramatically reducing the price of 18,000 Personal Seat Licenses.

Matt Higgins, business operations vice president told AP that cuts were being made to three areas: mezzanine end zone, lower sideline and lower end zone.

Higgins said, all along our number one goal has been to get the stadium sold out by opening day. The price cuts we are believe are aggressive.

The Sanchise and Rex, along with their lucky breaks, are heading into the playoffs. It this the same old Jets team? No, not this time around. The top ranked defense of Rex Ryan’s shut Cincinnati down, and rookie Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was able to lead the clock eating offense efficiently, as the Jets were able to clinch their first berth in the playoffs in three season when they defeated the Bengals in the frigid Meadowlands on Sunday night.
